The original release, affectionately named "vanilla WoW", introduced the world to the World of Warcraft. The release was a huge success, both critically and financially. The player was introduced to the Warcraft universe in a personal way, allowing you to explore the vast continents of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms on foot or steed. The player was allowed to join the timeless struggle between the Horde and the Alliance by selecting one of the many playable races, including dwarves, elves, and orcs. The game was highlighted by such memorable bosses as Ragnoras, Nafarian, Cthun, and of course, Hogger.
